Why I Hired a Wedding Planner
Hello friends! I hope this blog post finds you well. I wanted to hop on real quick to talk about why I (as a professional wedding planner) hired a wedding planner + why you should too!
You're a wedding planner, and yet you hired a wedding planner? What gives + do tell?!
I may be a wedding planner, but I am not super woman. When I got married (December 2016) I was finishing up my undergraduate degree, working 20+ hours per week and operating my business about 20 hours per week, on top of everything else. Did I want to plan it? Yes. Was I able to plan my own wedding? Theoretically, but...Did I have the TIME to plan it? No.
That question of time... For many people that is the question it will come down to; it was for me. Would I be able to plan my wedding assuming that I was not carrying so many other responsibilities? Yes! But I did not have any extra time. To make it even more interesting, we decided to get married 2.5 months after getting engaged. We were engaged October 1st and married December 17th. Yes, you read that right! It did help somewhat that I was a wedding planner; I knew some people in the industry. But we were willing to make it work regardless of my network.
Another thing I knew, from being a wedding planner, is that there would many tasks that needed to be done on our wedding day. When it is your big day you want to enjoy it, and not put yourself (or friends/family) into the position to accomplish it all. Hire help. We do it for all other aspects of our weddings, but when it comes to planning, we try to do it all ourselves. Hiring a professional is the way to go. I would be saying that even if I was not a wedding planner!
If I am being really real with y'all, I am so glad I hired a wedding planner to help get me to my wedding day. She not only got me to December 17th in one piece, but she allowed me to enjoy our once-in-a-lifetime event. Out of that time spent, we became close friends + I cherish her friendship to this day!
